Course Description

Does this book on houseplants go in gardening (635.9), botany (581.6), or interior decorating (747)? Determining the right Dewey Decimal Classification number to use can be tricky. This session will cover the basics of DDC to help get you started. Topics covered include an overview of DDC structure, building numbers using the tables, and a look at OCLC’s WebDewey.

Learning objectives for this session include
  • Learn the structure and organization of Dewey Decimal Classification
  • Understand the role of the manual, notes, and tables in building Dewey numbers
  • Be familiar with the WebDewey interface
